Kumho Tyre’s EV Specific Tyre Range

Kumho Answers The Growing Demand For Electric Vehicles With EV Specific Tyre Range

Kumho Tyre Australia
has answered the growing demand for electric vehicles with a range of tyres that have been particularly engineered to meet the special demands EVs place on their tyres.

The recent spike in oil prices has placed a new emphasis on consumer demand for EVs, and Kumho is well prepared for a greater take-up of the new technology of zero emission and low emission vehicles.

The EV specific range spans six models offering EV, Hybrid (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) owners a wide array of tyre types and sizes to meet their exact needs.

Kumho's EV focused tyre range includes the improved highway performance HP71 EV, the performance sports PS71 EV, the versatile HS63 EV, and the touring and the comfort focused TA91 EV.

At the top of Kumho's latest EV tyre range is the new PS71 EV which brings the proven performance of the popular PS71 pattern with specialised enhancements for EV driving dynamics.

It has been engineered with upgraded construction and improved rolling resistance to deliver an efficient, enjoyable, and responsive driving experience.

The PS71 EV boasts an enhanced construction and profile design, which thanks to new high-strength ultra-light hybrid components delivers improved block stiffness and minimal tyre distortion, particularly during high power acceleration. Its design also delivers improved driving stability as well as wet grip and braking for electric vehicles.

Its optimised tread pitch arrangement also reduces road noise while Kumho's of K-Silent polyurethane foam technology reduces resonance by up to 5 decibels.

The Kumho PS71 EV is OE fitment on Kia's EV6 and the Chery E5, as well as being ideal for the Tesla Model 3, and BYD's Atto 3.

The HP71 EV builds on the proven performance of the original HP71 pattern, with an upgraded construction, reduced weight, and enhanced rolling resistance.

It has been specifically engineered for EV SUVs and crossovers, with upgraded construction, reduced weight, and enhanced rolling resistance, delivering a quiet, comfortable ride and improved efficiency for all-round reliability.

Its multi-pitch tread block variation along with its aerodynamic tread design help to reduce road noise harmonics, and the application of Kumho's K-Silent polyurethane foam insert allows it to absorb air vibration while driving.

Its new 3D-interlocking sipe technology combines with its high-strength hybrid materials to enhance carcass structure, which provides increased durability and safety for high-load electric vehicles.

The HP71 is ideally suited for vehicles such as the Volkswagen ID.4 on which it is an OE fitment, as well as the Kia EV5, Tesla Model X and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Kumho's Solus HS63 EV has been designed for small to medium-sized electric vehicles and offers a smooth, quiet ride with balanced all-around performance.

The HS63 features a symmetrical tread pattern and advanced EV focused construction to deliver improved comfort, reduced rolling resistance and dependable handling.

Its enhanced sidewall construction promotes sharper steering response while preserving a comfortable ride for electric vehicles, while the optimisation of multi-pitch tread block variation reduces road noise harmonics for a quieter ride.

The enhanced carcass construction on the HS63 EV also improves stability and braking for electric vehicles such as Hyundai's Ioniq 5, Tesla Model X and Kia's EV6 as well as its EV5, on which it is an OE fitment.

Kumho's TA91 EV is an ideal touring and comfort tyre, engineered to provide a blend of quiet ride and comfort without sacrificing grip and responsive handling in both wet and dry conditions.

Its advanced silica tread compound improves traction, while improving wear resistance under the high-torque demands of an electric vehicle.

The TA91 EV has been designed with an asymmetrical tread design featuring multi-pitch block variation as well as 3D interlocking sipe technology to reduce road noise and to improve handling and braking performance.

Kumho's K-Silent technology, which uses a polyurethane foam insert to minimise noise resonance ensure the TA91EV delivers a quieter, more refined driving experience.

As well as being the OE fitment on Tesla's popular Model Y, the TA91 is also ideal for BYD's Seal and SeaLion 7 as well as Hyundai's Kona EV.

After a number of years and a range of factors beyond anyone’s control, Kumho Tyre Australia were pleased to host a combined Platinum Dealer Conference for their NSW and QLD Dealers on the Gold Coast. Held in mid-October, 28 of the Kumho Platinum Dealers checked in to the Mantra on View in Surfers Paradise before hearing all the latest from key Kumho staff about the year so far and the road ahead for Kumho as a brand and also the Platinum Dealer program. With near 70 people in the room, it was great to be able to share ideas and workshop things that work, and also work through issues individual stores may run in to at different times. With multiple people from Head Office in attendance, Dealers certainly found it beneficial to have direct correspondence and conversations with key decision-makers. After spending close to three hours running through a number of key elements, it was time for everyone to pretty themselves up before meeting for a quiet ale and from there it was off to Top Golf. For a large contingent of the group it was their first experience at the venue and it didn’t disappoint. With good food, cold beverages and a golf range like no other, a fun time was had by all. Special mention must go to Ian Kennedy from Transit Tyres in Mackay and Craig Hooper from Tyrewise on the Sunshine Coast who clearly spend a lot of their time when not at their store playing golf and working on their game. National Trade Marketing Manager, Paul Deer, was pleased with how the conference went. “It’s been difficult for everyone to come together over the past couple of years but we made sure this year we gave all our valued Platinum Dealers the opportunity to attend what I believe was a successful event,” Deer said. “We had a great turn out and it was good to be able to be in front of a large group to talk them through the success of the last 12 months, as well as discuss some exciting projects we’ve got underway heading into 2024." “Whilst we talked ‘shop’ for a period in the afternoon, we got to experience one of the Gold Coast’s newest attractions in Top Golf. It was certainly enjoyable and I think it’s safe to say all our Platinum Dealers should stick to their day job and won’t be on the PGA TOUR anytime soon." “We thank all of our Platinum Dealers for their continued support of the program and we are certainly looking forward to finishing the year strongly and then starting 2024 with a bang.”
